Artist: René Mäkelä
Technical palette on canvas
Kobe Bryant is immortal. A unique player who made history with the Lakers and the United States national team. The world mourned a tragic death and today pays its respects before the Olympus of eternal athletes.
The artist René Mäkelä wanted to pay his personal tributes he knows best, creating a spectacular piece of art. And he did it, in oil on canvas, but with a meticulous palette technique that took him months of work but whose result is astonishing.
“Kobe Bryant not only couldn't be missing from my NBA Icons series, but he is a must-have. I have painted for great world sports stars and, also, great icons who have inspired me, but without a doubt this is one of my favorite works because it comes from the depths of inspiration. Despite being claimed by numerous collectors, I have preferred to wait to exhibit it first in the best possible place: in the country where the Black Mamba grew up and in front of thousands of basketball lovers. There are many athletes who amaze with their talent but very few, like Kobe, manage to leave an eternal mark.”
