Artist: René Mäkelä
Oil on canvas
René Mäkelä has a predilection for the figure of Michael Jordan, whom he considers “hypnotic and immense.” Immense like this work, both in quality and size, a large-format piece that condenses part of the life of a unique athlete, considered by many to be the best among the best.
It is not the first time that René reflects the myth in oil on canvas. He already did it previously at the express request of NFL star Cam Newton, an admirer of Jordan and René's work, however he has 8 of his art pieces at home.
Recently René also reflected Jordan, in large format, in the double mural-museum that Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. asked him to paint in his gym to motivate himself in his training. Along with Jordan, who was a fixture in the minds of René and Vinicius from the first moment, Mäkelä reflected Pelé, Ronaldo Nazario, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. How not to get motivated?
In the words of the artist “Michael Jeffrey Jordan is an absolute legend. I don't remember anyone who made it so enjoyable to watch an athlete play, even if you didn't like basketball. It was poetry and dance. It was passion and beauty. In Europe, due to the time difference, the phenomenon of thousands of people preferring to watch him play rather than go to sleep was rarely repeated. I don't remember anyone so extremely aesthetic and brilliant. It is difficult to find a figure with so much impact on his generation and on generations to come. It is almost impossible for people who never met him in time to know perfectly who he is and who he was and thats absolutly happens with him. Only myths achieve that. Jordan, Michael Jordan, Air Jordan, MJ… he has a thousand ways to refer to him but the most appropriate, in my opinion, is THE GOAT.”
