Makelismos Brand is carrying out, with the help of René Mäkelä, one of the most ambitious artistic projects in its history. Also in the history of Miami, thanks to the efforts of businessman Moishe Mana to leave a legacy in the city, it is rehabilitating all of Downtown with a residential, gastronomic, leisure and artistic proposal never seen before.
There, Mäkelismos has the mission of changing the face of a mythical, classic area, which will become the reference point of the city in a few months. Within the framework of this ambitious project, we are carrying out different large-scale artistic actions that include the creation of different murals in representative buildings of the centre.
These are classic works that break with the contemporary style of other areas of Miami, such as Wynwood, and which, in addition to beautifying, aim to represent the importance of maintaining and revitalizing the old, the classic. In this case, the most classic part of a large city like Miami.
In this work, which began in 2024 and will continue throughout 2025, the first piece is already finished. It is The Girl with a Pearl Earring , one of Johannes Vermeer's masterpieces, which is now also one of René Mäkelä's, who has managed to reflect all the nuances perfectly... but on a colossal scale. Since last December, the captivating and enigmatic gaze of this young woman presides over one of the most representative blocks of the center, and can be seen from different points of the metropolis, including the sky train that runs through the central almond.
The second mural is already underway and represents a new artistic challenge, as it is three times larger than the first. That building already has a privileged place reserved for the Mona Lisa.
Many more artistic creations will follow around the central almond of Miami, which will advance at the same pace as the works to improve the sidewalks and the arrival of top-level chefs and innovative leisure proposals.
Downtown Miami is going to change forever, and Mäkelismos' hand will have a lot to do with that change.
